'Cats Conclude Season in A-10 Quarterfinals

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Davidson women's tennis team closed out the 2025 Spring season with a 4-1 loss to No. 2 Massachusetts in the Atlantic 10 Tournament quarterfinals Friday.Â
"We gave everything we had Friday," said head coach Susanne Depka. "The team fought hard and the support on and off the court was awesome. UMass played better than us in some spots but I have to give them credit they played a good match. I have no regrets and this team has amazing heart and it was a great journey. The team should hold their heads high and know they had a successful year, the returners can take lessons and look forward to next year. I'm very proud of this team for what they accomplished this season."Â
The minutewomen took the first team point winning in doubles on courts one and two for a slight advantage entering singles.Â
Ellie Hammond scored what would be Davidson's lone point of the match, putting her opponent away via 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 5 position.Â
UMass rattled off three consecutive two-set victories on courts three, four and one respectively to take a 4-1 match win. Despite the final score, both Savanna Kollock and Olivia Hooper were on the brink of scoring for the 'Cats with Hooper leading 6-4, 5-2 on court six and Kollock battling 6-3, 4-6 on court two, both left unfinished.Â
For the season, the Wildcats compiled 13 overall wins while making it to the A-10 Tournament quarterfinals round for the 10th consecutive season.Â
