'Cats Fall at Richmond

RICHMOND, VA. - The Davidson women's tennis team was defeated 4-0 in its final regular season Atlantic 10 contest of the season on the road at Richmond Sunday.

The loss puts the Wildcats record at 11-7 overall with a league mark of 1-5 ahead of the postseason.

"We had two good matches this weekend and hopefully learned and took away some lessons," said head coach Susanne Depka. "Richmond is a tough team and they did well. We have this week of practice to continue to work hard and improve with one match of the regular season left. We will be sure to use this time to physically and mentally prepare before the conference tournament."

The day started with three competitive doubles matches, however the 'Cats fell short of the doubles point with the Spiders claiming wins on courts one and two, leaving Ellie Hammond and Chalotte Calderwood unfinished at No. 3 trailing just 5-4.

Each spot battled in singles competition, with Savanna Kollock, Bryson Langford and Olivia Hooper all winning their opening sets. Despite the early set advantages by some of the Wildcats, the Spiders picked up victories on courts one, three and five to take a 4-0 match win.
