Balanced Effort Leads ‘Cats Past Loyola Chicago, 68-51

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson placed four players in double figures and used a pair of lengthy runs to cruise past Loyola Chicago, 68-51, in Atlantic 10 women's basketball action Wednesday inside Belk Arena.
The Wildcats, who improve to 12-11 overall and 7-4 in league play, held the Ramblers to just 33.3 percent and controlled the glass, 41-27, including 21 second-chance points.
Kyra Bruyndoncx paced the 'Cats with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Mallorie Haines added 12, all coming in the third quarter, while Millie Prior and Charlise Dunn finished with 10 points each. Katie Donovan and Tomisin Adenupe just missed the 10-point plateau with nine and eight, respectively.
After a slow start, Davidson erased a 10-7 deficit and grabbed control with a 22-7 run that spanned over the first and second quarters before going to the half up, 30-22.
The 'Cats opened the third with another run highlighted by four Haines' triples to stretch the margin to 48-29. Davidson's lead would grow to as many as 21 in the closing minutes.
Naelle Bernard was the lone Rambler to score in double figures with 13 points.
The Wildcats limited Loyola (11-12, 3-9 A-10) to just 13 field goals.
