
Wildcats Claw Back, But Fall to Regular Season Champs

RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond started and ended the game with runs to hold off Davidson, 59-46, in Atlantic 10 women's basketball action Wednesday evening inside the Robins Center.
The Wildcats fall to 17-12 overall and 12-5 in league, while the Spiders extend their win streak to 15 improving to 25-5 and 16-1.
Despite having their seven-game win streak snapped, the 'Cats set a new program record for 3-pointers made in a season, running their total to 220.
Tomisin Adenupe, who scored 10 of the Wildcats' 15 points in the third, finished the game with a career-high 19 points on 9-of-17 shooting to go along with eight rebounds. Charlise Dunn also scored in double figures for Davidson with 11 while also pulling down eight boards.
Addie Budnik (15), Maggie Doogan (11) and Faith Alston (10) led the way in scoring for Richmond.
After Davidson reeled off eight straight capped by a Dunn triple to make it a two-point game, 48-46, with 4:36 to play, the Spiders closed on an 11-0 run.
In addition to their runs, the Spiders forced 20 Wildcat miscues turning them into 19 points at the other end.
Richmond, which led 13-5 after one, pushed the margin to 17 late in the second quarter before going to the half with a 32-20 advantage.
In the third quarter, the 'Cats scored the first seven points, while shooting 58.3 percent in the frame to cut the deficit to 42-35 entering the final 10 minutes of action.
