AMHERST, Mass. – In addition to Reed Bailey scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for his fifth career double-double, Davidson used a lengthy second-half run to pull away from Massachusetts 77-68 in Atlantic 10 men's basketball Wednesday evening inside the Mullins Center.

The Wildcats, who shot just under 52 percent after intermission, improved to 15-9 overall and 5-6 in league play.

A native of Harvard, Mass., Bailey finished 10-of-16 from the floor en route to his 13th 20-point performance this season.

The league's leading scorer was joined in double figures by teammates Zach Laput (13), Connor Kochera (12) and Hunter Adam (12).

Despite UMass cutting the deficit to 40-39 with a 10-3 spurt to begin the second half, the Wildcats weathered the storm and eventually used a 21-8 streak to push the margin to 17 and put the game out of reach.

Davidson was just as impressive at the defensive end, holding the Minutemen to just 39.7 percent.

After the two teams traded the lead nine times in the opening 14 minutes, Davidson closed the first half on an 8-2 run to carry a 37-29 lead into the locker room.

Like Davidson, the Minutemen had four players hit the 10-point plateau, led by Jayden Nbjigue's 13 points.
