'Cats Fall to Fordham in Four Sets

BRONX, N.Y. – Despite a strong first set, Davidson fell to Fordham in four sets on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats posted a .455 team hitting percentage in the opening set. Elena Garcia-Guerrios and Meile Songaila each had four kills. Davidson won 25-17.
The second set was very tight. Davidson and Fordham were tied 20-20. The Rams won five of the final six points to take the set 25-21.
Meile Songaila continued a productive day on offense in the third set. The sophomore had five kills. The Wildcats dropped the third set, however, 25-17.
Fordham took the fourth set 25-22.
Songaila and Garcia-Guerrios combined for 23 kills on the afternoon. Jackie Bardin posted a season-high eight kills. Kinsey Smith, Ylame Dsamou, and Jordan Hummel all recorded double doubles. Smith had 19 assists and career-high 18 digs. Dsamou registered her second career double-double with 12 assists and 11 digs. Hummel had a career-high 13 and also added 16 digs.
