
Garcia-Guerrios Records 15 Kills, .382 Hitting Percentage, 'Cats Fall in Four Sets

PITTSBURGH, PA – Elena Garcia-Guerrios recorded a team-high 15 kills and a .382 hitting percentage in Sunday's four-set loss to Duquesne. It's the eighth time this season the junior has posted 15 or more kills in a match.
Davidson took the first set 25-15. The Wildcats took an 8-7 advantage early on and did not give up the lead the rest of the set. With the score at 22-19, Elena Garcia-Guerrios recorded two kills and Kinsey Smith added a service ace to close out the frame.
The Wildcats won the first three points of the second set, but the Dukes responded quickly in a big way. Duquesne went on 6-0 run and did not swallow the lead from there. The Dukes won the second set 25-19.
Duquesne carried that momentum into the third set and fourth set. The Dukes took the third set 25-19 and the fourth set 25-15.
In addition to a productive day on offense, Elena Garcia-Guerrios registered a season-high three solo blocks. Jordan Hummel added 22 digs. Kinsey Smith and Ylame Dsamou combined for 35 assists and 11 digs.
