• Despite building a 17-point lead in the first half, Davidson suffered a 79-76 setback at La Salle Wednesday evening in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action inside John Glaser Arena.
• Reed Bailey (21), Bobby Durkin (20) and Connor Kochera (14) scored in double figures for Davidson. Deuce Jones led the way for the Explorers with a game-high 23 points, while Daeshon Shepherd added 19.
• For the second time in as many contests, Davidson stormed out of the gates, this time racing out to a 20-7 advantage. The lead would grow to as many as 17, 36-19, in the first 20 minutes, before the Explorers closed on a 14-5 run to cut the deficit to 41-33 at the half.

• Luis Kortright scored a game-high 26 points to lead Rhode Island past Davidson 79-74 a season ago.
• Reed Bailey finished with 19 points and Bobby Durkin scored 14 off the bench, while Rhody's David Fuchs added a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.
• The 'Cats slowly chipped away at a seven-point deficit early in the second half and eventually went back in front, 51-50, on a Bailey triple with 13:08 to play. But Rhode Island had an answer, scoring on its next two trips to take the lead for good.

• Among those returning on McKillop's squad include Preseason All-Conference Third Team selection Reed Bailey.
• Bailey scored in double figures in 21 games during his sophomore season, including 10 of the last 12 games. The forward recorded five 20-point performances and averaged 16.5 points per game over that same 12-game stretch.
• The junior big man also finished the 2023-24 campaign as one of the most consistent free throw shooters in the league, making 135 shots at the stripe (6th) and shooting 80.4 percent (10th) at the line.
• So far this season, Bailey has averaged 18.8 points per game, set a new career high with 26 points against Temple and recorded eight 20-point games.
