Wrestling Goes Down to Final Match at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – The Davidson College wrestling team dropped a close dual match to the Duke Blue Devils, 22-21, in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday night.
The Wildcats eliminated a 19-9 deficit with four matches left to make it interesting late. Blake Reihner won a 4-2 decision at 141 pounds to stop Duke's momentum and make it 19-12.
Sophomore Tyler-Xavier McKnight got his 11th win of the season in the next bout at 149 pounds. The Cartersville, Ga. native won 20-3 over Peter Chacon to cut the Duke lead to 19-17.
In the following bout, 23rd-ranked Tanner Peake secured a bonus-point win in a 15-4 major over Logan Fite. The win moved Peake's overall record to 7-3 and gave Davidson the lead with one match to go.
Friday's dual concluded at 165 pounds where Aidan Wallace of Duke held off Bryce Griffin in a 4-0 decision to bring the match score to 22-21.
Sophomore Ian McGehee and junior Luke Passarelli were also victorious on the night. McGehee secured a 19-2 tech fall wrestling up two classes at 184 pounds. While Passarelli earned a 14-3 major over Logan Richey.
