DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's basketball team is set to open Atlantic 10 competition on the road at Duquesne 12 p.m. Sunday to close out 2024.

SERIES HISTORY...
Duquesne claims a slight 7-5 lead over Davidson in the all-time series dating back to the 2003-04 season. The Wildcats have won four of the last five meetings between the two teams with their most recent victory by way of 66-65 road win Jan. 22, 2023.
More recently, the 'Cats fell 66-59 at home to the Dukes. Elle Sutphin paced Davidson with a 20-point performance while chipping in seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Charlise Dunn joined Sutphin in double figures with 15 points of her own in addition to six rebounds, two steals and a game-high three blocks. The duo combined to hit four of the 'Cats' five 3-pointers.

LAST TIME OUT...
Katie Donovan scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Davidson Wildcats past cross-county rival Charlotte 82-55 — and help them keep the 704 Cup for another year — December 21 in Belk Arena.
Davidson's first quarter was its best offensive quarter of the season. The Wildcats shot 81.8 percent (9-of-11) in the first, while scoring 30 points. It bested the Wildcats' 28-point third quarter against Presbyterian and their 70-percent third quarter against FGCU.
Dunn hit four 3-pointers and added 14 points, while Issy Morgan and Candice Lienafa scored 11 apiece.
CONFERENCE OPENER RESUME...
Davidson will look to move above .500 in season openers dating back to their inaugural season in the A-10 in 2014-15. Currently the Wildcats are 5-5 when opening up league competition with their last A-10 opener win of the year coming a season ago in 81-53 triumph over Dayton.
In the win, Suzi-Rose Deegan scored a game-high 22 points and Davidson shot a blistering 56.9 percent Morgan added 15 points for Davidson, while Dunn and Millie Prior scored 12 points each. Prior also pulled down 6 rebounds to go along with three of her team's 7 blocks on the night.
DON'T SLEEP ON DONOVAN...
A sophomore guard from Australia, Donovan lit up the floor against the 49ers, finishing 9-of-11 from the floor, hitting all six of her free throws and was key in the third quarter as the Wildcats turned a 37-31 halftime lead into a 60-39 advantage. She scored 14 points in the period and surpassed her previous high of 19, which she scored at Ball State Dec. 5.
Donovan has now tabbed five games in double figures including a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double against Wofford earlier in the season.
ATOP OF THE A-10...
Within the Atlantic 10 conference, Davidson ranks in the top portion of its 15-member league in a few categories including being second in opponent 3-point percentage (.279), fourth in field goal percentage (.431), fifth in 3-point percentage (.337) and seventh in blocks per game (3.3).
Additionally, in her rookie season, Lienafa is the conferences second-best shooter with a .608 percentage from the field.
THE WILDCAT ROSTER...
Donovan has found continued comfort in a hybrid guard/forward position, allotting for her presence more in the paint as she is second for Davidson on defense with 4.8 rpg in addition to ranking first on the team in scoring with 10.3 ppg.
Dunn has settled right back into her scoring role from a season ago, ranking second on the team in points with 10.3 per contest in addition to grabbing 1.1 steals per game.
Having seen time in all 12 games this year, Lienafa is among the leaders of the Davidson offense with a stifling .608 FG% (second within the Atlantic 10), .474 3PT% and .850 FT% over 20.7 minutes per game.
Prior continues to be a force on the defensive end of the floor pacing the Wildcats with 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.

Duquesne picked up its seventh straight win and eighth overall inside of UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in 67-59 fashion over Bowling Green December 21. The Dukes have moved to an undefeated 8-0 when playing on their home court so fat this season.
As a unit, Duquesne is averaging 79.5 points per contest on a .448 shooting percentage from the field while holding its competitors to 66.9 ppg and .388 percent scoring. Additionally, the Dukes have connected on .345 percent of its 3-point shots and .658 percent of its free throws through 11 games.
Leading the offensive prowess for the Dukes is senior guard Megan McConnell who is averaging 18.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 6.1 apg and 4.3 spg in 11 starts this season. McConnell currently ranks second in all NCAA DI in steals per game and third in steals overall.
Joining McConnell atop of the Duquesne leading scorers is Jerni Kiaku (14.8 ppg) and Gabby Hutcherson (10.0 ppg).
