DAVIDSON, N.C. – Highlighted by a 29-0 first-half run, Davidson cruised past Detroit Mercy 86-51 in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday evening inside John M. Belk Arena.

Off to their best 10-game start during the Matt McKillop era, the Wildcats improved to 8-2 overall, while the Titans fell to 5-7.

Trailing 7-5 early, Davidson exploded for its game-changing streak to all but put things out of reach with 6:52 left in the opening period. The 'Cats, who led 43-16 at the break, held Detroit Mercy without a field goal for more than 11 minutes.

Bobby Durkin led the 'Cats with 19 points, while Connor Kochera and Reed Bailey added 17 each. For the second straight contest, Roberts Blums came off the bench to also score in double figures with 12 for the Wildcats.

Forward Sean Logan hauled in a career-high 10 boards to go with three blocks.

After Davidson pushed the margin to as many as 36, the Titans used a 17-4 run to cut into the deficit. The 'Cats eventually stretched their lead back to 35.

Davidson, which shot 49.1 percent, including a season-best 15 treys, was just as impressive at the defensive end, holding Detroit Mercy to 19-of-60 (.317) shooting.

Legend Geeter was the Titans' top scorer with 17 points.
