'Cats Travel to Face In-State Opponent No. 22/ No. 20 NC State

DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's basketball team will end a stretch of four away games when it travels to face in-state opponent No. 22/No. 20 NC State 7 p.m. Wednesday inside Reynolds Coliseum.

SERIES HISTORY...
The Wolfpack hold a 9-1 lead in the all-time series with the Wildcats dating back to the teams' first meeting during the 1974-75 season where Davidson earned its lone win over NC State via 64-50 home victory. An upset against NC State would be the first win for Davidson over the Wolfpack in five decades. 

Most recently, the Wolfpack defeated the 'Cats 81-47 inside Reynolds Coliseum on Dec. 15, 2022. Issy Morgan led Davidson with 10 points, while Tomisin Adenupe scored nine and Suzi-Rose Deegan finished with eight. Elle Sutphin scored six points and had a team-best seven boards.

LAST TIME OUT...
Behind a 23-of-26 effort at the free throw line and game-high 20 points from Ally Becki, Ball State defeated Davidson, 80-61, in non-conference women's basketball action Dec. 5 inside Worthen Arena. 

Katie Donovan led three 'Cats in double figures with a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Charlise Dunn and Candice Lienafa added 10 points each.

CAN'T STOP CANDI...
Canada native and freshman forward, Candice Lienafa continues to be atop of the stat sheets as she leads the Davidson offense with 11.3 points per game and efficient shooting percentages of .597 from the field, .533 from 3-point and .933 at the charity stripe. Of her nine contests she has appeared in, Lienafa has scored double-figures in six, including a season-best 18 points at Cincinnati. The rookie has earned a spot in the starting lineup in five contests. 

BACK TO BUSINESS...
After easing back into the game atmosphere in late November, Charlise Dunn is picking up where she left off a season ago, posting three consecutive games with double-figure performances. Dunn scored a season-best 16 points versus Belmont during the Fort Myers Tip-Off in addition to shooting a season-high .500 from the floor. For her efforts, Dunn, an A-10 Preseason All-Conference honoree, has earned a spot in the starting five in Davidson's last two games. 

A LOOK AT THE NUMBERS...
Within the Atlantic 10 conference, Davidson ranks in the top portion of its 15-member league in a few categories including being fourth in opponent 3-point percentage (.279) and seventh in both field goal percentage (.414) and 3-point percentage (.319). 

Additionally, in her rookie season, Lienafa is the conferences third best shooter with a .597 percentage from the field.

The Wolfpack earned their 10th straight home win, picking up where they left off a season ago, defeating Old Dominion 86-55 Dec. 8. Additionally, the Wolfpack are currently ranked No. 22 in the AP Top 25 and No. 20 in this weeks Women's Basketball Coaches Association Coaches Poll. 

NC State is led by a triad of players who average double-digit points in Aziaha James (16.2), Zoe Brooks (13.5) and Saniya Rivers (10.3). Brooks shoots a roster-best .532 from the floor while James leads from beyond the arc connecting on .380 percent of her 3-point attempts.

Defensively, Madison Hayes brings down a team-high 5.7 rebounds per game while Rivers has tallied 10 blocks and 14 steals on the season. 

As a team, The Wolfpack are averaging 74.9 points and 41.0 rebounds per contest while shooting .451 from the field, .345 from 3-point range and .631 at the foul line. NC State has allowed its competitors to score 62.9 points per game and kept opponent shooting averages to .382.
