'Cats Advance to A-10 Quarterfinals

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Davidson women's tennis team swept the Dayton Flyers in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
With the win, the Wildcats advance to the quarterfinals and will face the No. 3 seed, Massachusetts.
Davidson was able to get on the board first by handling business in doubles action. Kayva Patel and Daniela Porges cruised to a 6-2 victory in the top pairing while Josie Schaffer and Savanna Kollock kept their doubles win streak going with a 6-1 win. Patel and Porges moved to 10-6 as a pairing while Schaffer and Kollock are now 10-4 on the season.
In singles, the Wildcats dominated the No. 4, 5, and 6 matches to earn the sweep. Patel took down her opponent in a quick 6-1, 6-1 decision, and Savanna Kollock extended her singles win streak to six with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Franny Shea sealed the deal with her 6-0, 6-2 win in the No. 6 spot to earn her sixth win of the season.
Davidson will face UMass (11-6, 5-1 A-10) tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in the quarterfinals.
