'Cats Blank Hawks, Advance to Semis

"We started off fairly nervous in the doubles but we used the tools and our processes to continue to go for it in the end of the matches and it paid off for us," head coach Susanne Depka said. "We came out strong in singles and fought hard and competed well. St. Joe's didn't give up and continued to battle which was good for us, but we were able to match it and took the win. I'm proud of the team for their continued mental work and belief in the process."
The 'Cats and Hawks had each won a doubles match and it came down to the duo of Emma Heiderscheit and Franny Shea, who secured the doubles point with their 6-4 victory.Â
Kavya Patel was the first to finish for Davidson on court 4, only giving up one set in her 6-1, 6-0 match win to put the 'Cats up 2-0. Daniela Porges was next on court 6 with a similar score as her teammate, taking a 6-0, 6-1 victory over her opponent from St. Joe's.Â
The Wildcats were up 3-0 at this point and needed one more singles victory to secure the match. Josie Schaffer came through for the 'Cats, defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-2 on court 1 and clinched the match for Davidson.Â
