CHARLESTON, S.C. — In a neutral site Atlantic 10 match Wednesday down in Charleston, the Davidson men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to Duquesne.
Davidson fell to 7-4 on the season and 1-1 in league matches, while Duquesne improved to 4-7 and collected its first A-10 win in five matches (1-4).
Opening the match with an 1-0 lead after capturing the doubles point, the Wildcats were not able to carry over the momentum as they were held to just one win in singles play.
The doubles teams of Yash Parikh and Matthew Rose along with Camden Mazzoni and Sam Kavarana each claimed wins at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Parikh and Rose ran their season record to 5-4, taking home their second straight win. Mazzoni and Kavarana were teaming up for the first time this season.
Scoring the lone singles win on the afternoon was Kavarana at No. 4, rolling a dominating 6-0, 6-1 decision. He bumped his record to 6-5 on the season with a 3-4 mark at No. 4.
Davidson next takes a trip down to Tallahassee, Fla., where it will play Bethune Cookman on Friday, March 6. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
