DAVIDSON, N.C. — When the St. Bonaventure Bonnies cut Davidson's lead to single digits for the first time in the second half Wednesday night, the Wildcats responded with an 18-3 run to secure a 64-46 victory inside Belk Arena.
The win, which followed a 77-52 home victory over Fordham on Saturday, has the Wildcats 22-8 overall and 13-4 in the Atlantic 10 with one game to play.
"The last two games I think we've played our best basketball," said guard Kellan Grady. "We want to be playing our best basketball in March."
Grady scored a game-high 23, including 13 in the first half. His 27-foot step-back shot right before the halftime horn gave the Wildcats a 30-17 lead at the break.
Jon Axel Gudmundsson scored 17 to go with nine rebounds and jump-started the late run with a 3-pointer from the top of the key, after the Bonnies had pulled within 46-38 with 6:33 to play.
Luke Frampton added 11 points and connected on three treys as the Wildcats shot 47.8 percent from 3-point range.
Davidson, now 14-1 at home this season, held St. Bonaventure (15-15, 11-6) to 32.7 percent shooting, as coach Bob McKillop saw "resiliency and staying power" from his defense.
"I'm so pleased with where we are," said McKillop.
Dominick Welch was the lone Bonnie to score in double figures. He finished with 14 points.
