THE SERIES
Davidson trail the Toreros 2-12 all-time since the first meeting in 2000. The 'Cats won the first-ever meeting in San Diego, 27-13, but have failed to defeat San Diego since 2009. Despite the lopsided series record, the two have battled in a pair of classics - the Toreros edged the 'Cats in a 52-49 shootout in 2007 and needed a massive comeback in 2018 to erase a 31-7 first half Davidson lead. The Wildcats reset a 30-year old NCAA record in last season's clash, rushing for 789 yards.

LAST TIME OUT
Davidson (4-1) snapped a seven-game losing skid to Morehead State, downing the Eagles on the road last weekend at Jayne Stadium, 42-31. Junior running back Wesley Dugger rushed for four touchdowns and a season-high 134 yards on 14 carries to power the Wildcat offense. Davidson registered a season-high 525 yards (325 rush, 190 pass). Junior quarterback Tyler Phelps completed a few long passes including a 76-yard scoring strike to red-shirt senior Kahleel Shaw. He also connected with sophomore Jalen Staples for 66 yards that brought the 'Cats to the 1-yard line. Defensively, senior Rayshawn McCall notched his third interception of the season, while freshman Jaden Pask led the squad with 10 tackles, 9 of them solo stops.

SCOUTING THE TOREROS
San Diego (2-2, 1-0 PFL) rides a 30-game PFL win streak into Richardson Stadium Saturday. Their last loss in conference came at the hands of Dayton in Oct. 2015 - a 13-12 setback. Despite the .500 mark to start the season, the Toreros are battle tested with losses to then-No. 4 UC Davis and perennial FCS Championship squad, Cal Poly. Reid Sinnett took over for Anthony Lawrence under center and has shined, completing 90 of 131 pass attempts with 12 touchdowns, but has thrown five interceptions. 2018 All-American wide receiver Michael Bandy has caught three of Sinnett's scoring strikes, while Dalton Kincaid has grabbed four of them.

GETTING COZY
The Davidson defense remains among the top teams in the FCS through five games this season. The 'Cats are top five in total defense (248.4 yards) and rushing defense (72.6) and are among the best in scoring defense and passing yards allowed.

CHASING HISTORY
Wildcat junior running back Wesley Dugger needs 71 yards to move into the third on the all-time rushing list. The Henrico, Va., native sits at 2,721 yards, just 70 behind Eric Ferguson, who rushed for 2,791 yards from 1996-99. Dugger is fresh off a pair of 100-yard games including a season-high 134-yard performance at Morehead State last Saturday.

BPM LEADS PFL IN TFL
