Davidson Picks Up 6-1 Road Win at UNC Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Davidson finished its first weekend of matches perfect by claiming a 6-1 road win over UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon in women's tennis at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.

The Wildcats (2-0) ran their all-time record vs. the Bulldogs (1-1) to 11-1 dating back to 1983.

After a down to the wire finish Saturday in a 4-3 win at Appalachian State, Sunday's match saw Davidson score wins in five of the six singles matches and took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2.

The duo of Megan Scholvinck and Elizabeth Truluck nailed down a 6-1 doubles win at the top spot, while Samantha Arams and Alexandra Abele earned a 7-6 win at No. 2 to give the 'Cats the doubles point.

The winning continued in singles, as Abele (7-5, 6-4), Truluck (6-3, 2-6, 6-0), and Armas (7-5, 6-2) each had wins at No. 3-5 positions.

Gabrielle Centenari netted her first win of the season with a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 2, while freshman Mira Gladstone also got in on the win column for the first of her career with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-5 victory at No. 6.

Davidson has its home opener next Saturday against Queens of Charlotte at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
