PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In a game that featured 17 lead changes, Saint Joseph's Chris Clover scored a game-high 18 points and drilled a 3-pointer with 59 seconds left to lift the Hawks over Davidson, 61-60, Tuesday at Hagan Arena.
Clover's fifth trey of the contest came a minute after Luka Brajkovic gave the lead back to the Wildcats, 60-58.
Davidson (12-5, 3-1 A-10) had a pair of chances to win the game in the closing seconds, but was unable to get them to go.
Despite their first loss in league play, Jon Axel Gudmundsson, who recorded his fourth double-double of 2018-19 with 14 points and 12 rebounds, paced the Wildcats.
Backcourt mates Luke Frampton and Kellan Grady also scored in double figures for Davidson with 13 and 11, respectively.
The Wildcats entered eighth nationally in free-throw percentage, but finished just 3-of-7 at the line.

Davidson jumped out to a 14-4 advantage, but the Hawks responded with a 13-2 spurt and took their first lead, 17-16, with 7:10 left in the half.
Trailing 20-18, the Wildcats responded with another run, highlighted by consecutive treys from Gudmundsson and Frampton, before going to the break up, 31-26.
After Dusan Kovacevic put Davidson up, 39-33, Saint Joseph's had another answer, this time a 15-5 streak to go back in front, 48-44.
