WASHINGTON, D.C. – Peyton Aldridge scored a game-high 35 points and Davidson shot 55 percent as the Wildcats cruised past Saint Louis, 78-60, in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Tournament Friday inside Capital One Arena.
Davidson (19-11) will take on second-seeded St. Bonaventure, a rematch of last week's triple-overtime thriller, in Saturday's second semifinal at 3:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
Aldridge, the A-10 Co-Player of the Year, finished 13-of-19 from the floor and made all six of his attempts from 3-point range. He was joined in double figures by the league's Rookie of the Year, Kellan Grady, who added 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
The Wildcats, who have advanced to the semifinals in each of their first four seasons in the conference, drilled 11-of-23 (.478) 3-pointers, while committing just five turnovers.
Davidson, which shot 55 percent, including 9 treys in the opening period, broke the game open with a 26-3 run, to lead, 39-13. During their game-changing spurt, the Wildcats held Saint Louis (17-16) to just one field goal over a 10 minute and 38 second span, before heading to the break up, 41-23.
In addition to hitting all six of his triples in the first half, Aldridge led all players at the break with 22 points.
Davell Roby paced the Billikens with 26 points, including six of his club's 10 3-pointers.
After Saint Louis reeled off eight unanswered to cut the deficit to 44-31, the Wildcats responded and stretched the margin back to 20 on separate occasions.
Davidson finished with a 26-23 edge on the glass.
