Princeton Pulls Away Late, Davidson falls 65-57 on the Road

PRINCETON, N.J. — A cold shooting fourth quarter by Davidson allowed Princeton to rally in taking a 65-57 win over the Wildcats Sunday afternoon in women's basketball inside Jadwin Gym.
The 'Cats (4-4) had a 49-44 lead with 4:32 to go in the fourth quarter, but hit just three more field goals and closed the quarter at 5-of-15 from the floor. Meanwhile, the Tigers ended the quarter on a 21-8 run by hitting 4-of-5 field goals, including two threes, and going 11-for-13 at the charity stripe.
Princeton's Carlie Littlefield led the rally with 10 of her game-high 22 points coming in the fourth quarter, including nine points in a two-minute stretch that gave the Tigers the lead for good. She also stuffed the stat-sheet with eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
Katie Turner led the way for the Wildcats with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, 3-for-6 from behind the arc, to go with four assists and two steals. Sarah Donovan just missed a double-double with eight points and 13 rebounds, while Cassidy Gould scored a season-best 13 and dished out four dimes.
The game featured 11 ties and seven lead changes, with Davidson holding the advantage for close to 28 minutes.
The 'Cats ended the day shooting just 35.4 percent and pulled in 41 rebounds, while holding Princeton (2-7) to an even 35 percent. They held the Tigers scoreless for nearly seven and a half minutes that spanned from the end of the third quarter to the start of the fourth quarter, but were unable to pull away before Princeton rallied late.
Also reaching double figures for the Tigers was Sydney Jordan (14) and Gabrielle Rush (12), who added 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Turner carried the Wildcats to a 27-24 halftime lead behind 14 points, seven in each quarter on 6-of-6 shooting from the floor. After leading 13-12 after the first 10 minutes, the lead was traded four times with the Tigers pulling ahead before a Turner layup and an Ally Welling jumper off a Turner assist in the final two minutes gave the 'Cats a three-point lead at the break.
Davidson plays at Elon Wednesday, Dec. 5, for a 7 p.m. contest before it takes a break for final exams.
