DAVIDSON, N.C. – Grant Golden scored a game-high 24 points and Richmond forced 17 turnovers as the Spiders held off Davidson, 66-63, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball Sunday at Belk Arena.
In addition to scoring 19 points off Wildcat miscues, Richmond (8-13, 6-3 A-10) shot 59.3 percent after intermission to finish at 49.1 percent.
Jon Axel Gudmundsson led Davidson (10-9, 5-3 A-10) with 21 points, while Peyton Aldridge and Kellan Grady added 18 and 14, respectively.
After the Wildcats built a 36-31 advantage early in the second half, the Spiders responded with 12 unanswered to take the lead for good. Davidson, which trailed by as many eight on several occasions, was unable to get closer than a bucket the rest of the way.
Despite the setback, the Wildcats finished with a 36-27 margin on the glass.
Jacob Gilyard also hit double digits for Richmond with 14 points, while Nick Sherod scored 10 to go along with 14 rebounds
The Spiders erased a six-point deficit with an 11-1 run before heading to the half up, 25-24.
The 'Cats shot 46 percent overall and went just 7-of-22 from behind the 3-point arc.
