GREENSBORO, N.C.  — In a battle of old Southern Conference foes, the Davidson women's tennis team came out on top against host UNCG with a 6-1 decision Wednesday evening inside at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.

The Wildcats ran their record to 13-4 overall, while winning for the 17th time in 28 meetings in the all-time series. The Spartans fell to 3-16 on the season.

The matched started off with Davidson collecting the doubles point on wins from its No. 1 and No. 3 teams. The top duo of Megan Scholvinck and Samantha Armas moved to 11-3 on the season with a 6-2 win, while Alexandra Abele and teammate Ava Todd secure a 6-1 decision to move to 13-3 overall.

The two wins gave the 'Cats 34 as a team to only 13 defeats in their 17 matches this season.

The winning continued in singles with five of the six positions being won by Davidson. Leading the way was Todd at No. 6, who won her season-best eighth-straight match behind a 6-4, 6-1 decision to run her record to 12-4.

Also tallying straight-set wins were No. 1 Anna Catharine Feaster (6-2, 6-4), No. 3 Gabrielle Centenari (6-2, 6-3) and No. 4 Armas (6-0, 6-3). Feaster hit the double-digit mark in wins for the third straight season.

Freshman Alexandra Abele used a super tie-breaker to finish off her win at No. 4. The first-year player split her first two sets, 6-3 and 4-6, before scoring a 10-6 win in the super tie-breaker to win her team-leading 14th match.

Davidson returns home to start a three-match homestand this weekend against Charlotte, April 8. The Wildcats are currently riding a school-record 16-match winning streak on its home courts.
