DAVIDSON, N.C. – The nation's second-highest scoring duo of Peyton Aldridge (27) and Jack Gibbs (21) combined for 48 points to lead Davidson past George Washington, 74-63, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Wednesday at Belk Arena.
 
In addition to their 30th 20-point efforts this season, Gibbs and Aldridge led the 'Cats on the glass with 9 and 8 rebounds, respectively.
 
Trailing 43-41, Davidson (13-11, 6-7 A-10) grabbed control with a 17-6 run highlighted by 10 points from Aldridge. The Wildcats pushed their lead to as many as 13 with under a minute to play.
 
Davidson held the Colonials to just 38.3 percent, improving to 11-1 on the season when holding the opposition to under 40 percent.
 
Late in the first half, Davidson used a 10-2 run capped off by an Aldridge two-handed dunk, to grab its largest lead of the period, 35-27. The Colonials closed on a small spurt of their own to cut the deficit to 37-34 at the break.
 
The Wildcats shot just 41 percent from the field, but connected on 17-of-20 free throws.
 
Despite the loss, George Washington (13-13, 5-8 A-10) finished with a 39-37 edge in rebounds.
 
Jair Bolden and Tyler Cavanaugh paced four Colonials in double figures with 15 points each.
