RICHMOND, Va. – Kellan Grady scored a game-high 25 points, but it wasn't enough as Davidson dropped its Atlantic 10 Conference opener at Richmond, 69-58, Saturday at the Robins Center.
Nick Sherod paced the Spiders with a career-high 22 points.
In addition to shooting 54.5 percent after intermission, the Spiders held Davidson (5-7, 0-1 A-10) to just 36.4 percent overall, including an 8-of-27 effort from 3-point range.
Richmond (3-10, 1-0 A-10) scored the first six points of the second half and eventually used an 11-4 spurt to push its lead to 54-46. The 'Cats got to within a possession on separate occasions, but was unable to inch closer.
