Wildcats Fall to Hawai'i on Day Two of Diamond Head Classic

HONOLULU, Hawai'i – For the second straight night, Peyton Aldridge scored a game-high 26 points, but it wasn't enough as Davidson suffered a 79-71 setback to Hawai'i on day two of the Diamond Head Classic.
Kellan Grady (16) and Jon Axel Gudmundsson (13) also scored in double figures for the Wildcats, who shot just 38.1 percent from the floor.
After cutting the deficit to 48-44 with 16:41 left, Davidson (4-6) went 8 minutes and 20 seconds between field goals, which allowed the Rainbow Warriors to push the margin back to double digits.
Hawai'i (8-3), the tournament host, got 22 points from Sheriff Drammeh, while Gibson Johnson added 19.
In addition to starting just 3-of-16 from the floor, Davidson trailed by as many as 15 in the first 20 minutes, before heading to the half down, 40-32. The Wildcats used a 15-4 run late in the period to get back in the contest.
The Rainbow Warriors, who finished at 46.6 percent from the floor, had a 39-35 edge on the glass.
Davidson, which battled foul trouble for most of the night, had four players with at least five rebounds each.
