CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The backcourt trio of Nigel Johnson (22), Devon Hall (20) and Kyle Guy (19) combined for 61 points and all 10 of Virginia's 3-pointers as the Cavaliers defeated Davidson, 80-60, Saturday at John Paul Jones Arena.
Virginia (9-1) shot 56 percent after intermission to finish at 50 percent overall, including a 10-of-19 effort from behind the arc.
Peyton Aldridge led three Wildcats in double figures with 20 points, while Oskar Michelsen added 12 and Jon Axel Gudmundsson scored 11 to go along with 6 assists.
For Aldridge, a preseason all-conference selection, it was his fifth 20-point effort of the season and 35th of his career.
Despite shooting 50 percent and leading by as many as eight in the first half, Davidson (4-4) trailed 37-29 at the break after the Cavaliers closed the period on a 15-5 run.
Davidson finished at 48 percent from the floor, but connected on just 8 of its 26 attempts from 3-point range.
The Wildcats got to within six on separate occasions early in the second half, but were unable to inch closer as Virginia stretched the margin back to double digits, including by as many as 21.

Davidson will travel to Honolulu, Hawai'I for the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Dec. 22, 23 & 25. The Wildcats will play New Mexico State in the opening round at 6 p.m. (HT)/11 p.m. (ET).
