ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Ash Yacoubou scored 27 points and Jermaine Bishop added 23 to lead Saint Louis to a 96-87 victory over Davidson in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Wednesday evening at Chaifetz Arena.
In addition to shooting 54.1 percent from the floor, the Billikens held the Wildcats to just 34.3 percent in the second half and 41.3 percent overall.
Despite the loss, Jack Gibbs paced four Davidson (11-6, 3-3 A-10) players in double figures with 26 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Peyton Aldridge recorded a double-double for the third straight outing with 15 points and 10 boards, while Brian Sullivan and Nathan Ekwu had 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Saint Louis (7-11, 2-4 A-10) opened the second half on a 12-3 run and stretched its lead to as many as 12 with 5:51 to play. The Wildcats got to within five on several occasions late, but were unable to inch closer.
The 'Cats held a 40-38 edge on the glass, including 13 offensive rebounds that led to a season-high 26 second-chance points.
Aaron Hines also hit double digits for the Billikens with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Reggie Agbeko had 12 points and 12 boards in 33 minutes off the bench.
The first half featured five ties and seven lead changes before a Bishop jumper at the buzzer gave Saint Louis a 47-46 lead at the break.
The Billikens also made 21-of-26 at the charity stripe.
Both teams finished with just 7 turnovers.
