PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Tyler Kalinoski scored a career-high 32 points and Davidson drilled a school-record 20 3-pointers, as the Wildcats captured the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Title with a 107-78 victory over Duquense Saturday.
Winners of nine straight, Davidson improves to 23-6 overall and capped off its first A-10 season with a 14-4 mark.
The top-seeded Wildcats will make their A-10 Tournament debut, Friday with a 12 p.m. quarterfinal contest against the winner of #8 UMass / #9 La Salle at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
A senior from Overland Park, Kansas, Kalinoski finished 12-of-14 from the floor, hit 8 threes and handed out 9 of the Wildcats' 35 assists.
Jordan Barham added 20 points and 8 rebounds, while Jack Gibbs (19) and Brian Sullivan (11) also scored in double figures for Davidson, which shot 61.5 percent from the floor and 55.6 percent (20-36) from long range.
Sullivan dished out eight assists of his own, while Gibbs was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and made all five of his treys.
With the game tied 30-30, the Wildcats closed the opening half on a 25-3 run to take a 55-33 lead into the break. In addition to drilling 12-of-18 3-pointers and shooting 62.5 percent in the first 20 minutes, Kalinoski scored 21 points in the period.
The Wildcats, who held a 37-31 edge on the glass, stretched their lead to as many as 34 on Kamau Faines' triple with just under 2 minutes to play.
Micah Mason paced three Duquesne (11-18, 6-12 A-10) players in double digits with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting and five 3-pointers.
The Wildcats have captured 14 regular season (13 SoCon, 1 A-10) crowns under Bob McKillop and 24 in school history.
