WILMINGTON, N.C.  —  Led by senior Dakota Dukes' seven fourth-quarter points, Davidson turned a back-and-forth game into a victory by closing the contest on an 18-6 run to erase an eight-point deficit and take a 60-56 victory over Bowling Green in the first day at the UNCW Thanksgiving Tournament Friday in Trask Coliseum.

The game featured 19 lead changes and seven ties, with the first three quarters having six ties and 16 lead changes between teams.

Trailing 50-42 late in the third quarter after the Falcons used a 15-5 run to erase a 37-35 Wildcat lead, Davidson would finish the quarter on a 6-2 spurt and then hold BG to just four points in the fourth quarter while scoring 12 of its own to secure the win.

Dukes finished with a game-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting to go with a pair of free throws, while pulling in five rebounds and blocking three shots. She was coming off a 22-point, 12-rebound and six-block game Tuesday at High Point. The senior also is close to 1,000 career points, needing 10 more to reach the accomplishment.

The senior rallied the 'Cats (3-2) with a three-point play at the 6:38 mark in the fourth quarter to get within one (54-53) and then gave them the lead for good with a bucket inside at the two-minute mark for a 57-56 advantage, the game's final lead change.

Hannah Early (8 points, 4 rebounds) sealed the victory with three free throws in the last 16 seconds.

BG had a chance to take back the lead after Dukes' layup, but turned the ball over on an offensive foul. Then with 46 seconds left, Davidson's defense forced its second shot-clock violation of the quarter to keep the one-point advantage.

The Falcons last two chances saw them miss on three-pointers in the closing seconds. They had hit five treys prior to those misses.

Freshman Kianna Speight reached the double-digit mark for the first time in her Wildcat career with 12 points. She was red-hot in the second quarter from all over the floor, hitting 5-of-6 shots with two of them coming from downtown to help the 'Cats grab a 28-24 lead with 3:10 left. BG though came back, tying it up at 30-all before hitting a free throw at the end of the quarter to go up one at the break.

Bowling Green (2-2) put three players in double digits. Lauren Tibbs led the way with 13 points, followed by Sydney Lambert's 12 and Miriam Justinger's 10. Lambert and Justinger hit five of BG's seven three-pointers.

Davidson shot 49 percent from the floor (24-49) and won the rebounding battle, 33-30. The Falcons finished the game shooting 38.5 percent, including just 7-of-26 from behind the arc (.269).

Davidson concludes the UNCW Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Tournament tomorrow by playing the host Seahawks at 2 p.m.

GAME NOTES: This was the first-ever meeting between both teams … BG's head coach, Jennifer Roos, was facing her alma mater for the first time ... she was inducted into the athletics hall of fame in 2004-05 … the 'Cats' seven-game road swing to start the year is the longest since an eight-game trip at the beginning of the 2009-10 campaign … Davidson has outrebounded its opponent in four of its first five games this year.
