GREENVILLE, N.C. — #Jenna Brunner and Nisha Crouser# each won their third straight singles match, but it was not enough as Davidson dropped a 5-2 road decision at East Carolina Saturday afternoon in women's tennis.

The Wildcats (2-3) had upset ECU last year when they were in the top-75 of the ITA rankings, but came up short this season.

Crouser also moved to 3-2 on the young campaign with straight-set 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 3.

The Pirates, who won their first match this year, started things off by sweeping the doubles matches for the first point of the day. The 'Cats battled in all three of them as the duo of #Brites Moniz-Soares and Elaina Cummer# fell 6-3 at No. 1.

The pair of Crouser and Sarah Stein at No. 2 and Elise Held and Brunner at No. 3 played an extra game before falling 7-5 each.
