DAVIDSON, N.C.Nisha Crouser pushed her singles winning streak to a career-best seven straight, but it was the lone point for Davidson as it fell to visiting Georgia Southern 6-1 in its Southern Conference opener in women's tennis on a windy Saturday afternoon at the Convington Tennis Courts.

Coming off an impressive 4-3 win vs. No. 73 East Carolina Thursday, Davidson (7-3, 0-1 SoCon) was unable to carry over the momentum in seeing its four-match win streak halted. The Wildcats dropped their fourth straight in the all-time series to GSU (5-6, 2-2 SoCon), but still lead 18-9.

Crouser, fresh off clinching the win for the 'Cats on Thursday, rolled to her team-best seventh win of the season (7-2) with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4. The win total matches her total of all of last season.

Frizzi Bschorer (three in a row) and Brites Moniz-Soares (two in a row) had their win streaks snapped in singles, both falling in straight sets at No. 1 and 6. Bschorer forced a tie-breaker in the second set, but came up short, falling 6-2, 7-6, while Moniz-Soares won just three games combined in her two sets.

Georgia Southern opened the match by taking two of three doubles matches for the first team point. Stephani Synn and Crouser were the lone winners for the Wildcats, picking up an 8-6 triumph to move to 5-2 on the year.

The No. 1 team of Moniz-Soares and Elaina Cummer saw their team-best five-match win streak halted with an 8-2 defeat.

Davidson heads on the road to face No. 72 Elon, March 20 at 4 p.m. as it continues on with SoCon play.
