DAVIDSON, N.C. — Sophomore Brites Moniz-Soares kept her singles win streak alive with a super tie-breaker win, but Davidson was handed its second Southern Conference defeat as UNCG took a 6-1 decision on Wednesday afternoon at the Convington Tennis Courts in women's tennis.

Davidson fell to 3-10 overall and 0-2 in league play, while UNCG ran its mark to 8-4, 3-0 in SoCon play.

The Spartans took all three doubles spots and then continued into singles play by taking five of the six singles matches to score the team win.

Moniz-Soares continued her winning ways in singles action, forcing a third set and eventually a super tie-breaker since the team points had been decided. She took a 7-6 first-set win, but fell 7-5 in the second. Since the team match had been decided, she battled in a super tie-breaker with Alex Whitehead, who was named the SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week earlier in the day, to a 10-3 win at No. 2 singles.

The sophomore moved her win streak to six straight and ran her singles mark to a team-best 9-3, with an 8-1 mark at No. 2.

Frizzi Bschorer also played a super tie-breaker, falling 10-7 after splitting her first two sets with Devon Sutherland at the No. 6 position, 6-4, 4-6. Catherine Wood also had a strong singles match, forcing an extra game in each set before falling, 7-5, 7-5 at No. 5 to Stephanie Falcon.

In doubles action, the Wildcat pair of Nisha Crouser and Stephani Synn scored three games off the 66th ranked team of Niltooli Wilkins and Lucy Dougherty, but fell 8-3.

The duo of Katharine Dicconson and Moniz-Soares also played a strong doubles match, falling just 8-6 at No. 2.

Davidson gears up for a five-match road swing, starting in Greenville, N.C., where it will face off against East Carolina, March 24, at 3 p.m.
