Layup Line
• Davidson opens its 105th season of basketball against Emory in John M. Belk Arena Friday evening.
• Davidson has won 20 consecutive home openers. The Wildcats' last home opening loss was a 76-59 setback against Alabama in 1991.
• The 'Cats have won 30 of their last 34 against non-conference competition at Belk Arena and are 38-7 since 2003.
• Davidson is 18-4 in its last 22 contests, dating back to the last game of the 2011 calendar year.
• The Wildcats were tabbed Southern Conference preseason favorites in both the media and coaches poll.
• Junior De'Mon Brooks was voted Preseason Player of the Year by the league's 12 head coaches, while Jake Cohen and Nik Cochran were selected preseason all-conference.
• Davidson returns all five starters and its top eight scorers and rebounders from the 2011-12 team. Ninety-eight percent of the 'Cats' scoring and 94 percent of their rebounding is back in uniform this season.
• The Wildcats are led by two SoCon Players of the Year. Brooks earned the honor from the SoCon coaches, and Cohen got the award from the media association. While the media association (began voting in 1951-52) and the coaches (began voting in 1989-90) have differed on their selections over the years, it's the first time two players from the same team have split the honor.
• Brooks was also named the SoCon Tourney MVP, while Cohen earned all-tournament honors.
Bob McKillop was named SoCon Coach of the Year in the coaches' poll. It's his eighth SoCon Coach of the Year distinction. One of the nation's longest-tenured active coaches, McKillop will be coaching in his 698th collegiate contest this evening.
• McKillop has led Davidson to 25 wins or more in four of the last six seasons.
• With last season's NCAA?Tournament appearance, every four-year player in the Davidson program since 1994 will have played in the “Big Dance.”

Series Notes
• Davidson is 2-0 all-time against Emory with its last win coming in a 120-56 victory to open the 2007-08 campaign on Nov. 9.
• Former Davidson standout (1990-94) and assistant coach (1996-2003) Jason Zimmerman is the Emory head coach.
• Zimmerman finished his Wildcat career with 1,260 points and ranks among the school's all-time leaders in free-throw percentage.
• Following its season opener with Emory, Davidson will play six straight on the road before returning home for a Dec. 5 contest against cross-county rival Charlotte.

Season Openers
• Davidson holds a 68-31 (.687) record in season openers.
• Under head coach Bob McKillop, the Wildcats hold a mark of 10-13 in season openers.
• Eight of Davidson's season-opening losses during McKillop's tenure have come at the hand of teams from either the ACC, SEC, A-10 or Big 12, and six have been against ranked opponents.

Last Time Out
De'Mon Brooks scored 21 points and Jake Cohen added a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead six Davidson players in double figures as the Wildcats cruised by Belmont Abbey, 121-73, in their lone exhibition on Nov. 1.
• As a team, Davidson shot 54.4 percent from the floor and drilled 15-of-33 3-pointers (45.5 percent), including five from Chris Czerapowicz, who finished with 17 points.
Clint Mann also added 17 points in 17 minutes off the bench, while Tyler Kalinoski scored 14 points and JP Kuhlman contributed 12 points to go along with a game-high seven assists.
• Davidson, which went 22-of-25 from the line in the opening 20 minutes, scored the first eight points of the contest and led by as many as 30 in the first half before going to the break up, 63-35.
Jake Belford's bucket with 20 seconds remaining in the game pushed Davidson's lead to 50, 121-71, for its largest of night.
• The Wildcats recorded 30 assists on 37 field goals and held a commanding 52-25 advantage on the glass. They were also sharp at the charity stripe, converting 32-of-36 free throws (88.9 percent), led by Kuhlman hitting all six attempts.

Davidson Milestone Watch
• Fellow seniors Jake Cohen and JP Kuhlman each registered their 1,000th career point last season. Cohen's came against Western Carolina Jan. 12, and Kuhlman topped the mark at Appalachian State Jan. 14.
• Cohen is one of three players in school history to record over 1,000 career points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocked shots (Jamie Hall '82, Detlef Musch '93). Davidson did not keep blocks as a stat until the 1976-77 season. He is 18 blocked shots away from breaking the school career record after tying the single-season mark last year. Already ranked in the top-20 at Davidson in scoring, Cohen is 35 rebounds shy of cracking the top-20 at Davidson.
• Kuhlman joins Stephen Curry as the only two players in school history to tally over 1,000 career points, 400 rebounds and 300 assists.
De'Mon Brooks is 204 points away from 1,000 and 137 rebounds shy of 500.
Nik Cochran is 231 points short of 1,000 and went over the 200-assist mark with six against Western Carolina March 5, 2012.
