
Davidson M. Tennis Falls at College of Charleston, 7-0

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Davidson saw its two-match win streak come to an end when the College of Charleston Cougars took a 7-0 decision over the 'Cats on Sunday afternoon in men's Southern Conference tennis action at Patriots Point.
The Wildcats fell to 6-16 overall and 2-7 in league play. The Cougars ran their record to 14-5 and have just one SoCon defeat in nine tries, improving to 8-1.
Davidson saw its run of winning the doubles point come to an end at four straight as the Cougars captured 8-3, 8-4 and 8-6 victories at No. 1-3 spots. The Wildcats had won the doubles point in four matches in a row and seven of the last eight.
The No. 1 team of Calum Gee and Joe Schafer fell for the first time in four matches, falling to 8-10 overall and 4-4 in league play.
The momentum was carried over in singles play as the Wildcats were swept at all six singles spots. Schafer forced his second super tie-breaker after winning his second set 6-4. Lukas Koncilia, who earned a first-set win (6-3), took the super tie-breaker 10-4.
Sophomore Chris Mark saw his four-match winning streak come to an end as he dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 2.
Also seeing their two-match win streaks come to an end were Arie Hefter and Ethan Kallick at No. 4 and 6. Hefter dropped a 7-5, 6-2 match to Michael Boyer, while Kallick fell by the score of 6-2, 6-3 to Stephen Hardy.
The Wildcats finish out the regular season with a 3 p.m. match at Furman, Apr. 14.
