OMAHA, Neb. - Doug McDermott posted 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead Creighton to a 102-92 men's basketball victory over Davidson in the quarterfinal round of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Zebra Pen in the Qwest Center Monday night.

The Wildcats finish the season with an 18-15 record.

De'Mon Brooks led Davidson with a career-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds, and JP Kuhlman posted 19 points and seven assists. Jake Cohen scored 16 points, while Clint Mann and Brendan McKillop each scored nine points. Nik Cochran netted eight.

Antoine Young collected 22 points and nine assists for the Bluejays (21-14), and Josh Jones scored 21 points.

Creighton shot 52 percent from the floor in the game, while Davidson shot 53 percent. The difference came at the free-throw line, where the Bluejays converted 36-of-43, and the 'Cats made 17-of-24.

The score was tied 85-85 with 3:25 to play and Cohen at the line trying to convert a 3-point play, but Creighton outscored Davidson 17-7 the rest of the way to post the 10-point win.

Cohen missed the free throw, and Gregory Echenique got fouled on a dunk and hit the free throw at the other end. The Bluejays then got a steal, and Jones hit a triple from the wing.

After Kuhlman made 1-of-2 free throws for Davidson, Jahenns Manigat hit two foul shots, and Jones knocked down another triple to open an insurmountable 96-86 cushion for the Bluejays with 1:01 to play.

The Wildcats led for a majority of the first half after shooting a blistering 58 percent from the floor and knocking down six 3-pointers. Creighton only committed six turnovers, but the 'Cats scored 15 points off of the miscues.

Davidson led 50-43 with 1:25 left in the period after a McKillop triple, but Creighton scored the last six points to trim the margin to one at halftime.

The 'Cats trailed by eight midway through the second half but used a 9-3 run, capped by a Brooks free throw, to make the score 75-73 with 7:44 remaining.

Notes: It was the Wildcats' first meeting against Creighton… Davidson scored 50 points in the first half, the second time the 'Cats have scored 50-plus in the first half this season… McKillop finished his career fourth on Davidson's career 3-pointer list… Davidson returns seven of its top eight scorers to the 2011-12 team.
