CHARLESTON, S.C. – Bulldog starting pitcher Wes Wrenn allowed one hit and one run in seven innings of work to lead The Citadel to a 9-1 baseball victory over Davidson Saturday afternoon at Riley Park.

Hugh Eden, Brett Shore and Danny Weiss each went 1-for-4 for the Wildcats (8-21, 1-10 SoCon), who managed just three hits in the game. Bobby DeMuro, the current active career appearances leader, saw his first action of the season on the mound and gave up a hit in an inning of relief. The senior has been out of action with an injury.

Kyle Jordan led the Bulldogs (21-13, 9-5) from the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Timmy Martin pitched two scoreless innings and allowed two hits. Wrenn threw 117 pitches and faced 26 batters, walking three and fanning four.

The Citadel struck for three runs in the first and added four in the third on the strength of doubles by Matt Arnold and Jordan and a single by Trey Thomas.

The Bulldogs added two runs in the fifth to open a 9-0 lead. Davidson scored its lone run in the sixth when Chase FitzPatrick walked, went to third on a Weiss ground-rule double and scored on a Chris FitzPatrick ground out.

The 'Cats and Bulldogs will play the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m. at Riley Park.
