'Cats Score First-Ever Win Against Flagler College in W. Tennis

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Davidson College defeated Flagler College 7-0 in a non-conference women's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center.
Davidson won its third consecutive match to improve to 8-2 while Flagler had its two-match win streak snapped and fell to 2-5.
The Wildcats swept through doubles play starting at No. 1 doubles with Kelsey Linville and Virginia Berry teaming to beat Chelsi de Cuba and Chelsea Maratta 8-1. Davidson won Nos. 2 and 3 doubles by identical 8-4 scores.
Linville took care of No. 1 singles with a straight set (6-3, 6-2) win over de Cuba, while Berry won at No. 2 singles when Flagler's Fernanda Ospina was forced to retire in the second set. The duo improved their singles record to 5-3 and 6-2, respectively.
Davidson went on to sweep the remainder of singles play in straight sets.
Senior Kim Whelan, coming off Southern Conference Player of the Week honors on Feb. 25, earned her third straight singles win and team-leading seventh with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3.
Sophomore Teresa Wang picked up fourth straight win with a , 6-1, 6-2 to improve to 5-1 on the year in singles play.
Davidson ventures north to take on No. 73 Jacksonville University tomorrow, Mar. 3 at 2 p.m.
