DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson quarterback Ryan Alexander completed 21-of-28 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns in his final game, and the Wildcats rolled up 512 yards of total offense in a 46-34 Pioneer Football League victory over Butler Saturday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.

It was Senior Day at Davidson, and the seniors played a huge part in the victory. Kirk Konert caught seven passes for 100 yards and was on the receiving end of fellow receiver Myles Potter's first career touchdown pass on a trick play. Potter finished the contest with three catches for 20 yards to go along with 39 passing markers.

Chad Barnes rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns as Davidson (4-7, 3-5 PFL) rushed for 229 in the game. Matt Mikrut led the team with eight tackles, and Matt Easton added five.

Davidson scored on its first four possessions and punted just once, a 47-yarder by Konert. The Wildcats scored touchdowns on seven of their eight possessions in the game.

“That just shows you that if you take care of the details and the little things and execute, you can do great things,” said Davidson coach Tripp Merritt. “That's the kind of game we've been working for.”

Alexander found Andrew Aldrich for a 15-yard TD strike on the seventh play of the 'Cats opening drive, but Butler (6-5, 4-4 PFL) came right back down the field and scored on a Dionte Wiggins 11-yard run to tie the game.

Barnes capped an 18-play, 81-yard drive with a 1-yard run to put the 'Cats back on top, and Davidson used a trick play to go ahead 21-7. Potter took a handoff from Alexander on what appeared to be an end around play, but the senior stopped and fired a bullet to Konert, who was wide open.

Scott Gray's 1-yard run on Butler's next drive trimmed the lead to 21-14, but the 'Cats went right back down the field and scored on a pass from Alexander to Aldrich with 39 seconds left to make the margin 28-14 at the half.

Kenny Mantuo, who rushed for 90 yards on the day, scored two second-half touchdowns, and Chad Barnes added another as Davidson outscored Butler 21-18 in the second frame en route to the win.

Game Notes: Alexander finishes his career with 9,376 passing yards and 72 touchdowns, both school records… Barnes moved into eighth on Davidson's career rushing list… Davidson won 20 games during the seniors' four-year careers… The Wildcats have won their last four season finales, including the last three at home on Senior Day.
