Sam joined Davidson in June 2025 as an Assistant Director for Athletic Communications. His primary sports are men's basketball, volleyball, men's cross country/track & field, and women's lacrosse.
In addition to media relations work with the Wildcats, Hyman creates content and manages social media distribution for certain team accounts. He also contributes as a play-by-play announcer and sideline reporter for ESPN+ events at Davidson and as a freelancer broadcaster.
Prior to Davidson, Sam worked at Ohio University as the Director of Broadcasting from February 2023 to June 2025. In that role, he served as an ESPN+ play-by-play announcer for volleyball, field hockey, women's soccer, women's basketball, wrestling, baseball, and softball. He also was an ESPN+ sideline reporter for men's basketball games. In addition, Hyman mentored student broadcasters through the Ohio Bobcats Studios program. Aside from broadcasting, Sam created video content for a variety of sports on campus and distributed that content across social media.
Before Ohio University, Sam spent roughly four years in the Charlotte, N.C. area. From 2018-2021, he was a broadcaster and content creator at Wingate University. In 2022, Hyman worked remotely for the PGA TOUR's digital content team and also held a full-time position with the NJCAA as a Multimedia Associate. During this time, Sam also was a freelance play-by-play announcer at various schools including Davidson College.
Hyman's early stops were spent with the Columbia Fireflies as a broadcaster and media relations assistant, a radio broadcaster for the Vermont men's basketball team, and a broadcaster for the St. Cloud Rox in Minnesota.
Sam earned his bachelor's of science degree in Broadcast & Digital Journalism at Syracuse University. He earned his Master's Degree in Sports Management at Wingate University.
