Justin Parker joined the Davidson staff in September, 2018 after working 15 years in the newspaper industry.

He is the primary contact for baseball, field hockey and men’s and women’s swimming and diving, while also taking the lead on written pieces and contributing to video projects. During basketball season, he provides analysis on the Davidson Radio Network.

He spent 13 years covering sports in the Lake Norman community, primarily as sports editor of the Lake Norman Citizen (2009-2017) and covered Davidson beginning in 2010, with the program’s unveiling of its new athletics logo. He covered the Wildcats in multiple Southern Conference (Asheville) and Atlantic 10 Conference (Brooklyn, Pittsburgh) basketball tournaments, detailed the program’s move to the Atlantic 10 and covered the baseball team’s sweep of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional in 2017. He chronicled the hirings of Chris Clunie, Gayle Fulks and Scott Abell, the building of the Vance Center and the naming of Bob McKillop Court.

Parker covered the full spectrum of sports at the high school level, including many individual and state champions, such as current Davidson assistant coaches Greg Ferrucci and Austin Eisenhofer, and oversaw a network of skilled freelance writers and photographers.

After graduating from Wingate in 2002, Parker worked for a year with WBT Radio in Charlotte, mostly as a producer/board operator, before landing his first writing job with the Huntersville Herald. He spent four years covering high school sports for the weekly publication before serving two years as sports editor of the six-day/week Lenoir News-Topic. He was part of the original staff of the Citizen that was founded in 2009.

In his free time, Parker has been known to freelance for other media outlets, including the Associated Press. He's worked many Carolina Panther and Charlotte Hornets games and was courtside for the AP for UMBC's historic upset of No. 1 Virginia in Charlotte.

A father to Jett and Avery, Parker lives in Cornelius.
