Brian Wheeler began his career at Davidson College in 2004 and worked with the women’s soccer and baseball teams until 2006, when he moved to Atlanta to work a two-year stint at The Lovett School.
Upon returning to Davidson in 2008 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the women’s volleyball and baseball teams, Wheeler has worked over 15 years with the Wildcats and was later promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in 2022. He currently works as the primary trainer for women’s basketball and men’s tennis.
Wheeler received his B.S. in Exercise Science from Florida State University in 2002, where he worked with the football team. In 2003, he was an intern with the Jacksonville Jaguars and also earned his M.S. in Nutrition Education and Health Promotion in 2004 from Florida State while working with the men’s basketball team.
As an active member in the North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association, Wheeler became a Leadership Institute Fellow in 2018. Currently, he serves as a member of the Program Development board for the NCATA.
Wheeler and his wife Amanda reside in Davidson, N.C. They have two sons, Caden and Eli.
