
Two Podium Finishes Highlight Day One At A-10 Outdoor Championships

FAIRFAX, VA - John Teachman's gold medal in the javelin and John Cooper's 10000m silver medal highlighted Davidson's first day at the 2026 A-10 Outdoor Championships. The Davidson men's track & field team currently sits in third place overall with 24 team points.
Teachman threw 64.41m to earn the top spot on the podium for the second straight outdoor season.
John Cooper closed out the night with a sensational kick in the 10000m. The junior ran 4:16 during the final mile and dove at the finish line to move from fourth to second place overall. Cooper ran the last lap in roughly 60 seconds. He finished with a time of 32:.01.89 and the winner, Lloyd Sheppard-Brown, wasn't too far ahead at 32:00.39.
Sineth Andrabadu also made a splash on the first day of the championships. The freshman won both of his heats in the 200m and 100m to advance to the finals in both events on Sunday. Andrabadu ran 10.61 in the 100m, which was the third-fastest time overall in the event. He trailed only VCU's Jordan Davis (10.59) and Saint Louis' Will Stewart (10.59). Andrabadu ran 21.23 in the 200m, which was the second-fastest time overall in the event. Ben Henry of Saint Joseph's ran 21.04.
AJ Kurtz also qualified for the 100m finals with a time of 10.75 during prelims. That's just .01 seconds off his personal best mark.
Masson Heiny finished eighth overall in the hammer throw at his first A-10 Outdoor Championships. Edward Brown threw a personal-best mark of 43.10m in the hammer. Matthew Yaun was fourth overall in the javelin with a throw of 58.31m. Corbin Weltzien was ninth overall in the 110mh and was just one spot away from a finals appearance.
