Personal Records Fall as 'Cats Conclude Wake Forest Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Davidson women's track and field team concluded the Wake Forest Invitational by setting a string of personal records Friday.
First-year duo Gilly Shumate and Ava Linnell finished 1-2 in their heat of the 1,500 meters with new career-best times of 4:37.59 and 4:37.62, respectively. Fellow freshman Ansley Prescott also set a personal record, clocking in at 4:33.20.
The Wildcats' sprinters added to the tally of personal bests. In the 200 meters, Sofia Szollosi finished in a season-best 24.76 seconds. Leila Haley improved her lifetime best in the 400 meters with a time of 56.68, finishing just ahead of Lucie De Syon at 57.96.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Sofia Kardel recorded a top-five finish, crossing the line with a personal-best time of 1:02.2.
Davidson concludes its regular season next weekend at the Charlotte Invite, April 24-25.
