
Wildcats Fall at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio — Davidson's Parker Friedrichsen scored a game-high 21 points and the Wildcats rallied to within a point late before falling 70-59 at Dayton Sunday afternoon in a battle of teams that were tied for sixth place in the Atlantic 10 standings.
Friedrichsen shot 5-of-6 from 3-point range and turned in his fifth straight double-digit game to lead the Wildcats, who fell to 15-10 overall and 6-6 in the A-10. The Flyers (16-9) were bolstered by a 39-18 rebounding advantage, including 14 offensive boards, while improving to 7-5 in the league.
A 12-4 Wildcats' run in the second half, featuring eight Friedrichsen points, cut Dayton's lead to 52-51 with 6:33 to play. But Davidson missed its next three shots and went more than four minutes between field goals as the Flyers' lead grew to 10. From there, Dayton kept the lead at no less than seven points.
Josh Scovens added 15 points for the Wildcats, shooting 6-of-11 from the floor.
Dayton led by as many as 11 points in the first half, following a late 9-0 run, and held a 34-26 advantage at the half.
Dayton's Jaiun Simon had a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards, while De'Shayne Montgomery's 13 points led the Flyers' four double-digit scorers.
