WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Davidson women's basketball team was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10, the league office announced Monday with the revealing of its annual preseason coaches' poll, while two Wildcats — Katie Donovan and Kyra Bruyndoncx — were named to the league's preseason teams.
The Wildcats earned 181 points in the poll, securing their highest preseason projection in program history under tenth-year head coach Gayle Fulks. Davidson enters the 2026-27 season building on the momentum of a successful 2025-26 campaign that included 21 wins and 12 Atlantic 10 victories.
Senior guard Donovan garnered A-10 Preseason All-Conference First Team honors after leading the conference in 3-point percentage last season, shooting 45.8 percent from deep. The 5-foot-11 native of Victoria, Australia, averaged 12.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game during the 2025-26 season.
Joining Donovan with preseason accolades is junior guard Bruyndoncx, who was tabbed to the A-10 Preseason All-Conference Third Team. The 5-11 Belgian guard averaged 9.3 points and shot 33.6 percent from deep a season ago.
Saint Joseph's (196 points) was selected as the top seed in the preseason poll, receiving all 14 first-place votes. George Washington (141 points), George Mason (138 points) and Dayton (127 points) rounded out the top five.
