CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Tanner Peake placed eighth to highlight Davidson's weekend at the 2026 Southern Scuffle hosted by Chattanooga.
A senior from Flemington, N.J., Peake went 3-1 on the opening day setting up this morning's bout against reigning All-American and No. 25 Gavin Drexler of North Dakota State.
The 157-pounder edged Drexler 2-0 to guarantee a podium finish, while giving the 'Cats their third win over a ranked opponent over the two-day event. Peake's run would end with a 4-1 setback to Little Rock's Jaivon Jones in sudden victory.
In all, 15 Wildcats competed this weekend, with four making it to the final day.
Anderson Heap and Tyson Sherlock both made a run to the quarterfinals Saturday, before falling this morning in the Consi 8 (#2).
Despite dropping his opening match yesterday to the nation's fifth-ranked wrestler, Davidson's Bryce Griffin also advanced to the final day with four straight wins.
Marc Koch and Anwar Alli also put together solid performances for the 'Cats.
