'Cats Conclude Tryon Banked Invite, DMR Champs, Rittenhouse Sets School Record in 300m

MILL SPRING, N.C. - The Davidson men's track & field team concluded competition at the Tryon Banked Invite on Friday.
Connor Rittenhouse led Davidson in the 300m and set a new school record in the event with a time of 35.12. The previous record was 36.65 set by Charles Rappe in 2013.
AJ Kurtz highlighted Davidson's performance in the 60m on Friday. Kurtz matched the third-quickest 60m time in Davidson men's indoor track & field history. His 6.97 time resulted in a ninth-place finish, one spot shy of advancing to the finals. Kurtz ran 6.92 in this event at the JDL Early Bird Invite to open up the indoor season on December 7, 2025. That is the second-fastest time in Davidson men's indoor track & field history behind Josh Hardin who ran 6.91 in 2022.
Four Wildcats participated in the 1000m and Liam Maurillo led the way with second-place finish (2:29.91). Daniel Cortese (2:30.36), Eli Roth (2:33.34), and Jack Fischer (2:38.63) also ran in this event.
Alex Thole posted a personal best time of 4:21.79 in the mile and finished seventh overall.
Ryan Harris finished 13th overall with a time of 1:58.99 in the 800m.
Brady Clark and Peter Darst highlighted Davidson in the field events. Clark made his college debut and finished fourth in the shot put (14.31m). Darst opened up his indoor season with a 13th place finish (1.88m).
Finally, the DMR 4000m capped off the night and the Wildcats finished in first place (10:21.23). That time currently ranks 38th in NCAA Division I. This groups featured Daniel Cortese, Connor Rittenhouse, Liam Maurillo, and Alex Thole.
