DAVIDSON — Seven events wins and a team victory by the Wildcat men highlighted the Davidson swimming and diving teams' return to competition Saturday afternoon against William & Mary in Cannon Pool.
The Davidson men earned a 148-140 win over the Tribe, while the visitors took the women's win (205-89) in the final home meet of the season.
"On the heels of a productive training camp, this was a great return to racing," said coach John Young. "We had a good crowd and strong competition, and the energy at Cannon Pool was palpable. I was impressed by both teams and especially grateful to see the seniors lead the way again."
Dylan Felt led the way with wins in the 200 free (1:35.49) and 500 free (4:26.62). Fellow seniors Liam McDonough (100 back, 50.29) and Fletcher Smith (200 fly, 1:48.46) also added victories.
The rest of the wins came from Wildcat freshmen, as Henry Shoemaker touched first in the 1,000 free (9:21.67) and Phelim Crowley won the 200 IM (1:52.01). Max Boylan provided the day's biggest cheers with a victory in the 200 breast (2:03.27).
Ginny Thorsen (200 free, 1:52.15) and Ann Thompson (200 back, 2:02.38) led the Wildcat women with second-place finishes.
Davidson also added extra points in diving, with top scores from Elle Jacobsen (women's 1M, 3M), Jonas Lusis (men's 1M) and Garrett Sablich (men's 3M).
