
'Cats Split Two Matches to Close Out Wildcat Classic

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson split its two matches on Saturday to wrap up the Wildcat Classic. Elena Garcia-Guerrios, who landed on the all-tournament team, led the squad with 14 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the straight-set victory over Delaware State. Davidson fell to Coastal Carolina in straight sets later in the evening.
Match vs. Delaware State
The Wildcats got off to a strong start and posted a .308 hitting percentage in the opening set. Garcia-Guerrios recorded five kills in this set and Davidson took the first set 25-16.
Davidson won the second set 25-22. The Wildcats trailed 20-16 in the second set and rallied to win nine of the final 11 points. With the help of Ariyana Johnson's 11 kills and a .368 hitting percentage, Davidson finished off Delaware State 25-23 in set three.
Match vs. Coastal Carolina
Despite the loss, all three sets were decided by three points or less. Anna Withee led Davidson with nine kills and a .250 hitting percentage. Jordan Hummel and Elena Garcia Guerrios combined for 30 digs.
Wildcat Classic Notes
Davidson's Elena Garcia-Guerrios finished with 30 kills, 21 digs, and five service aces across three matches. Kinsey Smith recorded 53 assists for the Wildcats.
